ABOUT


"Resident Evil 5" is a survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom. It was released in 2009 for various platforms including PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and later for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.


The game is the seventh main installment in the Resident Evil series and follows the story of Chris Redfield, a former member of the fictional biohazard countermeasure task force known as the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). In "Resident Evil 5," Chris is deployed to the fictional African country of Kijuju to investigate a bioterrorist threat involving the sale of illegal bio-organic weapons. He is joined by Sheva Alomar, an agent of the BSAA's West African branch.


The gameplay of "Resident Evil 5" retains the over-the-shoulder third-person perspective introduced in its predecessor, "Resident Evil 4." Players control either Chris or Sheva, with the ability to switch between them cooperatively in the game's single-player mode or through online multiplayer. The game emphasizes action and combat, with players facing hordes of infected enemies known as Majini, as well as powerful bosses.


"Resident Evil 5" received generally positive reviews from critics for its graphics, gameplay mechanics, and cooperative multiplayer mode. However, some criticized it for its departure from the series' survival horror roots in favor of a more action-oriented approach. Despite this, it was commercially successful, becoming one of the best-selling games in the series.


The game also received additional content in the form of downloadable content (DLC), including new costumes, weapons, and additional story scenarios. It was followed by several sequels and spin-offs in the Resident Evil series, further expanding the lore and universe established in the game.
